THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION, PART III,THE REPUBLICAN PARTY’S PROBLEM WITH WOMEN.

When this campaign for President had a critical moment, which was the revelation that Donald Trump had made a statement indicating that it was more than okay to physically assault women,  Republican men in general failed to repudiate the statement. By their failure to show any courage, they left women voters with the unavoidable conclusion that this type of behavior was to be permitted. In doing so, they may have lost the votes of suburban and college educated women forever.

For many Republican women, they had for years dismissed the left wing attacks that the Republican party condoned sexism. But recently the generality that Democrats had suggested was true became a reality, and Republican educated women have had enough of what they can clearly see as hypocrisy. A sense of betrayal, and anger is not uncommon for the women who in some cases have worked the trenches of politics for years.

The Republican Party seems to need a reality check. They can no longer go on and be a viable political force if they have alienated women voters. So not only does the party have a major split between a central right faction versus a far right faction they now have a major problem with women voters. Women vote and they vote in greater numbers than men do. Not only that, there are more women than men. No party can be a force in our political lives if their only source of great support comes from white men and women with less than a college education.

Now women, who were formerly strong Republicans, can see that without a doubt women are greatly disrepected. No one should ever be talked about in such a horrible manner than Trump and his weak kneed allies have talked about women.

Who will be left to support Republican principles and what are these principles? The one thing that is apparent is that voters have no clue as to what positive message Republicans have to offer. Are Republicans going to offer the voter an Eisenhower view of America, or a Ronald Reagan view of what government should be like. Are we to see the party of Lincoln wallow into a Trump reality show?

Can humpty dumpty be put back together again? Can the Republican Party heal the wounds of this years election without changing some fundamental aspects of the Republican Party? They will have their come to Jesus moment when on November 8th, Republicans go down in flames. Defeat can be a teaching moment or will they continue to turn a deaf ear to the hopes and dreams of the majority of Americans? Time will tell!
